Family LifeMeeting Family Financial NeedsStanford is an expensive area in which to support a family. University fellowships and assistantships are intended to cover the expenses of the student; supplements are not available for family support. Student loan programs may be used to meet family expenses. Eligibility is based on financial need demonstrated through a review of student and family expenses as well as family income and assets. Careful financial management is extremely important for students with families. Benefits of Stanford for FamiliesWhile costs are high and financial support is limited, there are a number of positive aspects of family life at Stanford. The Stanford community includes the availability of campus housing and childcare, an excellent public school system, and a number of services to assist student families. The Graduate Life Office and the Bechtel International Center offer programs for student families, including excursions, English language tutoring, social programs, classes and activities for children. |
