GRE Fee Reduction Waivers
If you receive a GRE Fee Reduction Voucher from ETS, you are eligible for a GRE Fee Reduction Waiver.
ETS offers GRE Fee Reduction Vouchers for individuals who can demonstrate financial need, for those who are unemployed and receiving unemployment compensation, and for national programs that work with underrepresented groups. Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for a voucher. Learn more about the GRE Fee Reduction Program.
You may receive a GRE Fee Reduction Waiver even if your graduate program does not require or consider GRE scores.
How to Request a GRE Fee Reduction Waiver
The deadline for Stanford to receive your fee waiver request is 10 business days (two weeks) before your intended graduate program’s application deadline.
- Start your graduate application and complete the following pages. Save but do not submit your application.
- Personal Background
- Program Selection
- Open the Fee Waiver Request Form.
- Select the GRE Fee Reduction Waiver option and upload a PDF of the email you received from ETS with your GRE fee reduction code. The remaining questions on the form are optional.
- Submit the Fee Waiver Request Form.
You are notified via email when your request is approved or denied. If your request is approved, the fee waiver is automatically applied to your account and you are not prompted to pay the application fee to submit your graduate application.
